Study interactive presentations online, using video, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you progress efficiently and at your own pace.

Day 1

3-4 hrs to suit you
(classroom & pool)
Take a short quiz to ensure you have understood the theory section of the online course. Move to the swimming pool to learn how to set up your dive equipment, try breathing underwater and practice some underwater skills.

Day 2

08.00 – 14.30
(day on the boat)
Your mission today is to complete 2 dives to 12m. During the boat journey out to the dive sites, you’ll set up your dive equipment, discuss dive objectives with your Instructor and get into the habit of making a pre-dive safety check before each dive.

Day 3

08.00 – 15.30
(day on the boat)
After planning your dives with your Instrutor, you’ll complete 2 further training dives to 18m. Successfully perform some of the skills from your pool training in Open Water and your PADI Dive Licence is in the bag – a world of adventure awaits…!

How does eLearning work?

After enrolling, PADI’s eLearning® system presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss.

What else is required to complete the PADI Open Water Course?

Prior to certification as a PADI Open Water Diver, you’ll visit your PADI Dive Center or Resort to complete your training. You’ll take a short eLearning Quick Review to confirm your understanding of safety-related material from the course, and you must successfully complete five confined water dives and four open water training dives with your PADI Instructor. You learn and master each of the required skills in confined water (swimming pool-like conditions) first before moving on and showing your instructor that you can comfortably repeat those skills in open water. As a PADI Open Water Diver, you will be a certified entry-level diver able to rent dive gear, get air fills and dive anywhere in the world in better or similar conditions to those you’ve trained in.

What does it cost?

The PADI Open Water Diver Course online is $130 (AUS) nonrefundable. The fee covers your knowledge development training and gives you unlimited access to an electronic version of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual (course textbook). Scubafish then charge an additional fee for the in-water portion of your certification. The in-water Scubafish reduced price e-Open Water Diver course costs 15,900 THB and includes:

What does the PADI eOpen Water Course cover?


The PADI eOpen Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba certification course. Millions of people have started diving as certified PADI Open Water Divers. Learning to scuba dive requires both knowledge development (facts, principles, concepts) and dive skills (techniques, methods).

The PADI Open Water Diver Course online provides the knowledge development portion you need. You develop the remaining skills by diving with a PADI Instructor at Scubafish.

How long do you have to complete the eLearning?

The eLearning course will be available for one year from the time of course registration. Though you must finish the online portion of the course within that time frame, you will have lifetime access to an online version of the PADI Open Water Diver manual.

How long will it take to complete the eLearning program?

The PADI Open Water Diver Course online will take approximately 12-15 hours to complete.

What documentation do I need?

Once you finish the eLearning portion of the course, Scubafish is notified that you have completed it and that you are ready for the practical phase of the program. At the end of the eLearning program, you should print out your eRecord and bring a copy of it with you to Scubafish.

What will I learn in the PADI e-Open Water Diver Course?

The PADI Open Water Course consists of three segments:

eLearningYou’ll gain the knowledge, dive principles and basic information required to make your diving safe and fun with the online course, in the comfort of your own home. Choose your hours!

PADI courses are designed to help you learn in the way that’s best for you. Courses combine visual, reading, writing and practical learning techniques to ensure you really understand each section.

Watch DVD’s, complete 5 knowledge reviews, quizzes and your final exam, as well to cement your learning, as well as earn about safe dive planning using Dive Computers.

Learn how to assemble and take care of your dive equipment, and practice and complete your underwater-skills training in one of our swimming pool.

You’ll have plenty of time to get comfortable with your equipment, apply common dive procedures, simulate potential problematic situations and scenarios and increase your confidence about scuba diving in shallow water before progressing on to make your dives in the ocean.

Scuba Diver - Pool Training Session

During the days out on the boat, you’ll complete 2 open water dives to a maximum depth of 12m, and 2 to 18m under the direct supervision of your PADI Instructor. Set up your equipment, practice pre-dive safety checks and successfully perform some of the skills you practiced in the pool.

You must complete a basic waterskills assessment in which you are required to float for 10 minutes, and swim 200m in deep water. Complete your learning by applying the principles you learned in the pool to your open water dives and enjoy some of the fantastic marine life that Ko Lanta has to offer.

PADI Course Health Requirements

You must complete and sign the PADI Medical Statement, which includes a medical-history section, to enrol in PADI scuba training programs. A positive response to a question does not necessarily disqualify you from diving but indicates a pre-existing condition that may affect your safety while diving. Your doctor would be required to complete the PADI Medical Statement & Guidelines for Recreational Scuba Diver’s Physical Examination on your behalf in this instance. National Marine Park Fees

Please note that during High Season (November – May) everyone is required to pay 600 THB per day National Marine Park Fee when out at the Lanta Dive sites.

Since this is a seasonal charge, this is not included in the course price.
