The 3 day PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty Course is designed to introduce underwater video equipment and filming fundamentals, as well as through the post-dive editing process where you take your raw footage and create an underwater masterpiece.

Day 1

08:00 – 3:30pm
(Boat)
You’ll complete 2 U/Water Videography dives, practicing different techniques including shot types, shot lengths and camera moves. Back on land you’ll review the footage taken from dive 2 with pointers on how to improve and will develop a storyline and shot sequencing for tomorrow’s dives.

Day 2

08:00 – 15:30
(Boat)
You’ll complete 2 further Videography dives during which you’ll film your underwater movie using the storyline and sequencing planned yesterday. In the classroom you’ll have an introduction to audio and video editing techniques, will review your footage and plan edits and your soundtrack

Day 3

09:30 – 16:00
(Classroom)
Today you’ll edit and produce your movie. Start by capturing your footage onto the computer, construct and edit your material, add a soundtrack and synchronise to your video. You’ll also add and render effects, compress and burn to DVD. Relax and watch your masterpiece!

How often do courses run?

Courses start every day, at around 08.00. You can book now, or come in to see see us while you’re on holiday in Ko Lanta. We offer free transfers to and from your resort in Ko Lanta for any of our dive courses or daily dive trips.

Are there Additional Charges?

Please note that during High Season (November – May) everyone is required to pay 600 THB per day National Marine Park Fee when out at the Lanta Dive sites.

Since this is a seasonal charge, this is not included in the course price.

There may be a fuel surcharge to visit some of the further away dive sites if you choose to dive these sites during your course.

  • King Cruiser Wreck (+ Shark Point & Anemone Reef): + 1,200 THB [Friday]
  • Hin Daeng & Hin Muang: + 1,000 THB [Monday, Wednesday, Saturday]

What will I learn in the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty Course?

This 3 day course consists of two main areas which include academic training, self-study sessions, and 4 open water videography dives:

 

Self Study & Liquid Lense editing suite: You’ll learn about Selection, maintenance, care and handling, exposure, focus and maintaining colour with video equipment underwater. In the editing suite you’ll gain hands on training in post production, introducing you to video and audio editing techniques.

PADI courses are designed to help you learn in the way that’s best for you. Courses combine visual, reading, writing and practical learning techniques to ensure you really understand each section.

<pDuring 4 Videography Dives you'll practice a range of filming techniques such as exposure, focus, shot types, moves, story line and shot sequencing.

PADI Course Health Requirements

You must complete and sign the PADI Medical Statement, which includes a medical-history section, to enrol in PADI scuba training programs. A positive response to a question does not necessarily disqualify you from diving but indicates a pre-existing condition that may affect your safety while diving. Your doctor would be required to complete the PADI Medical Statement & Guidelines for Recreational Scuba Diver’s Physical Examination on your behalf in this instance.
